NYC Subway Token Leather Bracelet
A BRACELET FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES NEW YORK CITY.
A vintage New York City subway token has been heated and forged into a bead and attached to a simple, sleek leather cord bracelet. This large 'Y' cutout style was used from 1970 to 1980. The pentagonal token was used from 1995 to 2003. The five sides of the shape represent each of the five boroughs of New York.
Bracelet is 8" long. (can be made any size) Magnetic/latch closure. Antiqued brass. Nickel-free, lead-free.
Bracelet comes with a printed history of the NYC tokens in a muslin drawstring bag.
The NYC subway token was first introduced in 1953. Over the next 50 years, 6 variations were designed and minted, becoming well-known symbols of the bustling underground transit system. Just after midnight on April 13, 2003, the tokens were phased out.
