New York Subway Token Necklace

A vintage subway token necklace for anyone who loves New York City. 

The coin is a vintage "Y cutout" subway token hung next to a gorgeous moss aquamarine briolette.  Both are perfectly paired with the antiqued chain they hang from.  Great gift for anyone who loves NYC or dreams of going there.

This antiqued brass chain is 20" long with a 2.5" drop, lobster claw clasp, genuine moss aquamarine briolette, and an authentic vintage subway token.

Necklace comes packaged with a printed history of the NYC tokens in a muslin drawstring bag. 

This large token with the "Y cutout" was the second token design used.  They were in use from 1970-1980. The NYC subway token was first introduced in 1953. Over the next 50 years, 6 variations were designed and minted, becoming well-known symbols of the bustling underground transit system. Just after midnight on April 13, 2003, the tokens were phased out.
